The Smaltz family is one of those families that when I have photographed them over the years, I really have to reign in the “omg they are so darn cute” comments, because my brain just wants to say it non stop! I mean… just look at these pictures! They seriously could not be any cuter if they tried!

Anyway… back to my story here, because it is a good one! So… the thing about booking picture sessions is you really can’t predict weather! As I have said many times before. And it is always a tricky thing to put outfits together, and then have what is supposed to be a warm beach session turn into a cloudy and cooler beach session. Well, this was one of those days, and in fact the Smaltz family who drove over an hour, was actually scheduled the evening prior to this day. And it was torrential downpour the entire day, like… you can’t even squeeze in a half hour anywhere on the radar because it was just WET! Wet, and so dreary! So by some miracle, both of us were able to squeeze in this session the very next morning, first thing, and we decided to trust what the doppler told us, which was the rain looked like it was past us. And it turned out to be a warm, slightly windy, but clear morning! My personal favorite light is mornings like these because it is so clear, and you have more freedom on which ways you can face the camera. This will forever be a favorite session, not only because they are *SO CUTE,* sorry had to say it one more time, but also because it is what makes photography an adventure! No two sessions are alike, and sometimes you get thrown curveballs… but more often than not, those end up being some of my absolute favorite sessions!
