When you plan an engagement session months in advance, you never quite know what the actual day will bring! You get excited, book the long weekend in Nantucket, make dinner reservations, book lodging (Hotel Pippa is the cutest little Boutique Hotel ever), make all the beauty appointments, shop for the outfits, etc. But regardless of what comes weather wise, life is full of surprises, and learning to make lemon into lemonade, and finding a positive side to every situation will set you up for a life well lived. Reframing is such a gift when you learn how to do so! And let me tell you, this weather forecast required that skill, and showed torrential, downpouring rain, ALL DAY LONG. We managed to get the slightest little break in the rain, with just enough time to spend about an hour together until the rain came back around.

But… reframe…rain = cozy. Warm coffee, delicious restaurants, cozy hotel suite, soft blankets, the cozy sound of the rain on the roof. And Nantucket has all of the cozy, adorable, “Coastal Americana” vibes and can still be such a fun weekend getaway, even if you were thinking sunshine and sandals. Enter Colleen + Rory to the story… These two were both so calm, and literally smiled and laughed during our time wandering around downtown together. Who cares about the weather! Colleen was absolutely timeless, so elegant, and so photogenic! Rory was also so much fun, so unbothered and unhurried, and was so happy to go along with picture taking… you could see his love for Colleen SO clearly.

This was probably the most “meant to be” engagement session that I have ever had. The way it fell SO perfectly into place… I still cannot believe the stroke of luck that we got! We didn’t even need the clear umbrellas that I brought just in case! Undeniably it is because they truly are the sweetest couple ever… congratulations Colleen + Rory, you got through what could have been a disappointing day, and turned it into something FUN, HAPPY, and memorable. I can tell you two will navigate life beautifully together, hand in hand. I can’t wait for your wedding!
