Erin + Zach… where to even begin? From the moment Erin inquired, I was like this girl is so fun, so chill and so kind/considerate. The way she talked on that initial phone call was so calm, so warm and friendly. We chatted about her vision for the day, and she felt too good to be true. She had a clear vision for her wedding day, but she was so incredibly relaxed about everything… I was taken aback!
Erin + Zach currently live in Austin, Texas, but Zach, who grew up in Princeton, New Jersey, has deep, heartfelt childhood ties to Chatham, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. It is where his grandparents had a summer home. Hence where the beautiful wedding day was! Scroll down to see pictures of the sweetest “Chatham Nana.” Due to the distance, I didn’t actually get to meet them until late summer, as they were spending time in Chatham, prepping for wedding things, and enjoying all of the wonderful things Chatham offers in the summertime. Erin planned THE cutest engagement session, they enjoy tennis, and so we met on the courts, and then over to the beach… it looks like it is straight out of a Jcrew catalog. Not even kidding. I try not to stumble over my words when first meeting someone, but I think I repeatedly asked her if she was a model? Like this is way too good to be true. She is stunning in every way! And Zach, so classically handsome, so happy, so smiley, so sweet. The cutest pair.
Fast forward to the wedding week…mind you we have had one of THE sunniest summers I have ever had in New England. It quite literally has hardly rained. So much talk from everyone about the hydrangeas… they have never been this plentiful, this big, and this colorful. A stunning New England summer! Enter…the week of Sept 21.. a severe coastal storm rolled in. We are talking torrential downpour from Thursday- thru Sunday. Raining… like pelting rain going sideways, flooding, the windiest winds. The kind of wind that turns your umbrellas inside out when you are walking outside. Coordinators waited until the absolute last minute to move the wedding inside the morning of, hoping for the rain to let up. But it was just too wet, and way too windy. Original plans of an Oyster Pond ceremony changed to moving indoors to the lovely, private Chatham Beach and Tennis Club. CBTC had all hands on deck, and it turned out to be such a cozy, and intimate ceremony, and the staff there went all out to make this wedding beautiful. One of the hardest things to swallow, when your new reality of the day you planned, was so completely different than what ended up being. Erin + Zach handled it with grace, and it truly showed everyone that they were such a mature team, that had the best perspective. Cozy, candlelit, string lit indoor ceremony, and not a dry eye was in the room after the vows they shared.
The second ride in the Funk bus commenced, and we headed to Nana’s house for the tented reception. The pre ceremony ride took us over to the Chatham Squire, one of Erin + Zach’s favorite places, and we took a few fun pictures there. Walked over to the bandstand, and past the Chatham Candy Manor, doing the best we could do get a tiny bit of documentation of the things they love in Chatham. The Chatham Squire had a fun little pop up on site at the reception, and made sure everyone was hydrated and warm haha. Erin + Zach braved the beach for a quick 5-10 minutes to try to grab some footage of some Bride and Groom beach pictures, and then we all retreated back under cover to enjoy a delicious meal, custom ice cream desserts, dancing and heartfelt speeches to round out the night.
Erin + Zach, thank you for having me be a part of your day. You have so much love between the two of you, and you both have such warm, and loving families surrounding you and a plethora of fun friends. Many blessings to the adventure ahead! See you around in Chatham!
Joyfully,
Melissa
